The motion picture DIRT was produced for one million dollars. In the original regional theatrical release of the film it returned 4.2 million dollars to the producers. (Variety) The investors made a 300% return from the U.S. theatrical pay window alone. Each release window, premium cable, home entertainment, basic cable, television, etc. have also performed well. The film features serious and light-hearted racing events through the insights of a colorful and fascinating cast of characters. Audiences respond to the good time feeling of the show with comic writing and situations provided by screenwriter S.S. Schweitzer and a compelling musical score by Richard Halligan that is focused on the emotional content whether comic or dramatic. Production logistics covered North America using every action camera technique known for racing events, boats, rigs, car mounts and tracking with helicopters.
