OPPOSING FORCE
DIRECTOR: ERIC KARSON

New York - "Opposing Force is a strong fascinating film.
Picture doesn't pull any punches, depicting a grueling War Games style environment.
Gil Cowan's script forcefully directed by Eric Karson raises many serious issues...in attempting to treat women as equals in a military situation..
Eichhorn is outstanding in handling an unglamorized, both physically and mentally, demanding assignment.
Skerritt is solid as the hero forced to take action. . . Roundtree brings out the duality of his pivotal role.
Technical Credits, including atmospheric lensing on Filipino and Miami locations are top notch."

.......................................LOR - Variety

As stated in the Hollywood Reporter article, "this is a different kind of action picture.  Some people are going to love it; some are going to hate it.  People are going to feel strongly about it."  This is a no holds barred drama that is controversial throughout.  Sometimes life has no happy endings.  The outstanding cast took the challenge head on with excellent performances by Tom Skerritt, Lisa Eichhorn, Richard Roundtree and one of America's most outstanding actors Anthony Zerbe. This controversial film is now in release through Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer.  The production began at 20th Century Fox then moved to Orion just before production began.
There were 36 cast members and a stunt company of 24, the crew numbered 122.  The principal location in the
Philippines included a huge P.O.W. camp constructed by local tribesmen complete with helicopter landing pads and multiple bridges.  The second location for
helicopter chases, dock explosions and parachute jumps was in Miami, Florida.
